Sleep is a double edged sword, isn’t it luv?

Dreams don’t care which memories they drag up.

Sleep can be an escape, unless it brings nightmares…

This quote reminds me of a conversation I had long ago, with a very pretty friend of mine.

Death, so call’d, is a thing which makes men weep, And yet a third of life is pass’d in sleep…”

From Don Juan, by George Gordon Byron.

“[But] in that sleep of death what dreams may come, when we have shuffled off that mortal coil, MUST GIVE US PAUSE. […] Thus does conscious make cowards of us all.”

From Shakespeare’s Hamlet.

I wish I remembered the context for that conversation. I guess it was something deep, but my 14 year old brain was probably too distracted by how pretty he was to remember. At any rate, this quote [and my shakespearian retort] stuck with me. Of course, my response was not nearly as complete as it is here, but that’s beside the point.

Sleep is a double-edged sword.
